You might know that the Spoonplug was first created and marketed by Buck Perry back in the late 40s, and that he received a patent for the bait on January 16, 1951. But, have you ever actually read the patent?
The picture to the right (click to enlarge) is from the original patent application documenting all the unique features of the bait. And while it's not the most thrilling read, there are some interesting remarks about why the design is such, as well as how the multi-line ties on some models changed the action. If you've never taken a look, now here's your chance to read what is on file with the U.S. Patent Office.
