Back out on the home lake again for bass. Fished basically the same hours. Air temp again the same at 38, though we supposedly hit 39 for a very short spell. Sun felt like it made a difference. Winds were 11-13 early out of the East, but it dipped down to 8 mph around 4 PM. Barometer stayed high all night at 30.6 until lunch hour today, at which point it slowly started to fall with the approaching low pressure system moving in overnight and tomorrow. Water temps were a tick higher at 39.5-40.0 degrees.
Things started out good this afternoon with 4 bass between 14"-17"off a single point on the custom painted Zana RC STX jerkbait. That bite ended when my braid main line snagged the spool and the bait went flying off into the distance, suspended somewhere under the surface, never to be found. Sucked, 'cause I do enjoy catching them that way. Tackle lesson learned.
Went to the jig after that and picked up 14 more bass, including this 4+ pound fish. They were eating it much better today for some reason. Managed a crappie or two along with a few white bass in between bites. No terribly cold weather for one more week, so looks like I might get one more weekend of open water to fish before things shut down for the year.
