After all the long explanations and the rambling excuses, I was still hopeful that Day 3 at the Classic would be a bit better showing for the BASSTrakk board. Alas, it wasn't to be. Estimates within the margin of error slid to just 40%, while underguesses jumped to 56% of the field. The overall average per angler difference also crept back up to a -3.38 pounds. If you only average the weights of those outside the margin of error, it actually works out to a -5.83 pounds. In other words, an estimate that was nearly six pounds lighter than actual weight weighed by a given angler. I thought that with only half the field to follow, and many of them staying close in Lake Cat, things were going to take a turn for the better. They'd be much better off just scrapping the whole system and sticking to the live blogging instead. They say anything is better than nothing, but I have my doubts in this case after analyzing the tracking board these past two years.
On a more positive note, I found open water on the home lake and landed the first greenie of 2011. If the weather holds and we get a little bit of rain, I might actually be launching the tin boat by next weekend. If so, the local fishing reports will begin.
