After realizing that coverage of the FLW Cup was going to be less than stellar (B.A.S.S. is superior in this regard - JMHO), I decided to go fishing instead. Got to spend a long day on the water, right around 6 hours of time split between crappie and bass. The bass bite was surprisingly good, and I was able to land 52 fish in 3 hours, including numerous fish in the 2-3 pound range. All came on 6# line and finesse tactics.
The crappie bite was a little less productive, but I was still able to find several areas where fish were grouped up, mostly in deeper water, 15'-19'. They weren't overly aggressive, so you had to fish fairly slow for them, but I brought the camera with and captured some of the day on video, then pieced it all together. Here's a look at how things went out on the water yesterday.
Al Lindner on A-rigs and Spoonplugs
I found this video commentary by Al Lindner particularly interesting because of his comparison of what he sees as the (impending) fate of A-rigs recently with that of the decline (near death) of Spoonplugs. Being particularly familiar with the latter technique and history helps. I'll likely be talking a bit more about them this year, including a quick followup commentary to this post next. In the mean time, check out the video if you haven't seen it already.
