This late in the year, you sometimes have to take whatever weather Mother Nature gives you and just roll with it. And while the air temps were pretty nice with highs in the low 60s combined with mostly sunny skies, the wind was ripping 14-20 mph with gusts to 29 mph out of the south. That makes it a little tough being in a jon boat, but you just have to make the best of it and take what the lake will give you. Today, that was 36 largemouth bass, 7 white bass, 3 crappie and 2 bluegill. Most fish came on small jig/pigs, but an inline spinner accounted for quite a few fish, also. While many bass anglers scoff at such baits, at this time of year when the fish are so keyed on baitfish, a flashy spinner can really be a suprisingly good fish catcher, at least for keeper-sized bass.
Also got another bonus catch today....somebody's old A-rig that I drug off the bottom of the lake (see pic) - LOL. Also, while it's not Lake Erie or anything, I did shoot this short video today to show you what life in the jon boat is like on windy days like today.
You wouldn't happen to be at waveland and that a-rig have orange line cause if it does Iit was probably mine I lost it near the slide on the east side of lake

How tight was your seat belt.

Derrik - Good news is it wasn't yours :) Haven't been on Waveland in several months, though I'd like to squeeze in one more trip out there. If I do go, I'll try throwing some deep cranks in that area and see if I can dredge up your rig...or a bass :)
Tom - No seatbelts in the Team SunChips Mercury Powered Lowe jon boat :) not even an "Oh, S#%t" handle like in them bass boats. It's just a life jacket and kill switch. Speaking of, will post some good fallboating tips tomorrow n the site from US Boat.
